Representative Greg Smith Comments on the Latest

Quarterly State Economic and Revenue Forecast

SALEM, Ore. – Representative Greg Smith (R-Heppner) released the following statement in response to the state economic and revenue forecast announced today:

“Today's economic and revenue forecast showed that the rising inflation of the past few years is now beginning to take hold of the economy. State revenue for the 2023-25 biennium is projected to be about $3 billion less then the current biennium. As a recession looms, now more than ever, fiscal prudence is paramount when managing Oregon's finances.” Representative Greg Smith is currently serving his eleventh term as an Oregon State Representative, making him the longest serving member in the House of Representatives. He holds a gavel as the Co-Chair of the Joint Ways and Means Subcommittee on General Government. Representative Smith also serves as the Co-Vice Chair of the full Joint Ways and Means Committee. Additionally, he is the ranking member on the House Revenue and Joint Legislative Audits Committees.
